Mission Statement: To produce healthy, ethically raised food while practicing grazing management that heals the land.
Hoof Hearted Farm is currently raising animals through management intensive grazing in Blacksburg, Virginia in the heart of the New River Valley.
In 2008 we started to become more interested in the processes/resources required to put the food we eat everyday onto our plates with our first try at raising clean food for ourselves in 2011 (meat chickens brooded in our garage, then pastured at a friends house).
Did you know that the average piece of food we eat travels over 1500 miles from farm to table!? Also, the "industry standard" for the conditions that animals are raised in are saddening - we feel that animals should be able to express their natural instincts during their lives, not be confined to small unclean areas with teeth, beaks, and tails removed and injected with drugs so that they don't get sick while living in unhealthy conditions.
Once you have had a "real" egg with a deep orange yolk from one of your own chickens or fresh pasture raised beef with intense flavor and marbling you will know what we mean... real food tastes GOOD and is good for you! So I encourage you to meet your local farmer, eat good food, and maybe let us be a part of your journey.
Thanks for visiting our site!
